FTSE 250 company, Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) wanted to raise awareness and position itself as a global pioneer of wireless products with consumer technology device manufacturers. With 26 offices across three continents and customers worldwide, the communications campaign needed to be global.

Having worked with CSR as its UK comms arm, Octopus Group was appointed lead agency to coordinate an integrated international campaign, on behalf of ION, that would build awareness and position CSR as thought leaders in the wireless connectivity sector.


Enlisting eight ION agencies in regions spanning the US, India and Japan, Octopus Group managed the operation, supplementing the global comms engine with creative campaigns that would elevate key messages to core audiences in different regions.

In September 2013 ION launched the prototype of CSR’s world’s thinnest wireless keyboard to show manufactures the innovative products they could create with Bluetooth Smart. The keyboard was launched under embargo with media events for key press in UK, US, China and Taiwan. A video was created to support the announcement at IFA 2013 to help influencers and the public visualise the innovation in action.


The results: The campaign achieved o
ver 200 pieces of coverage globally, including titles such as Guardian, Wired, Reuters and CNET. The media exposure and coverage of the video reached achieved over 70,000 in one day, generating 128,546 views in total to date. But most importantly the campaign led to sales meetings with key customers and even an increase in CSR’s share price.
